How to connect and protect your team

Let’s work toward healthy, long-term working relationships

Real connections matters! Taking care of every member of your team means taking care of our customers and our company

Change requires great leaders who dream of a different world and are capable of making the necessary transformations, always with a positive vision, who work for the common good and seek to positively impact people’s lives.

From this perspective, a leader must have a positive vision, aligned with organizational objectives, and be able to communicate it to others, getting them to share it and taking
action to achieve it.

They must always be a role model, motivating their team to action. It is necessary to recognize the business leader as an agent of change and a shaper of organizational culture. This trend has driven us to make transformations in occupational safety and health, where integrative visions from leaders are required, enabling the creation of a healthy work environment, where people are truly at the center of all organizational decisions.

Over the years, occupational safety and health has been managed with a technical approach, which has resolved, in most cases, the major problems related to machinery, equipment, materials, and the environment. However, this has not been enough to completely eliminate the occurrence of high-potential workplace accidents, especially those related to mental health.

Therefore, it is necessary to transform the culture of occupational safety and health through the direct and active participation of company leaders, to create a new reality where safety is part of the strategic objectives and an essential ethical obligation of senior management.

Volunteering is a wonderful experience. Contributing your time, positive energy, and skills gives you the opportunity to connect with others, build meaningful relationships, discover new things, learn, and work as a team.

With our fast-paced lifestyles, we often forget that we live in a society made up of people, where we can contribute more than we ever imagined—through simple, sincere actions aimed at helping to open doors for those in need.

Volunteering at the Career Centre at Douglas College has given me the chance to connect with many students, talk with them, and explain how they can build their personal brand and all the support Douglas College offers to help them develop successful and meaningful careers.

I invite more Douglas College students to join this initiative to experience it firsthand and to give and receive much more than they give.

From the perspective of work experience, volunteering is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the Canadian job market, connect with others, adapt to new work dynamics, and demonstrate your capabilities in a tangible way to a potential employer.
The multicultural contribution is also significant because it allows volunteers to interact with people from different countries with diverse cultures and work styles, where each person’s story and life experience counts as a learning opportunity—confirming that when we complement our experiences, we can have a broader and more far-reaching impact.
